So, #Summer is just around the corner and if you are lucky enough to have already booked your #Malia holiday then chances are you’ve been excitedly surfing the web to figure out whereabouts in the resort you’re going to eat, drink and of course party. Malia has dozens upon dozens of options for each of those activities and with so much on offer right on your holiday door-step, it’s no wonder that a lot of people choose to stay in resort and bask in the convenience.
If you’re feeling more adventurous though, we would heartily recommend exploring slightly further afield. Situated half-way between Agios Nikolaos and Heraklion, Malia is the ideal location for exploring the rugged and majestic beauty of Eastern Crete. For example, a mere 5 minutes’ drive up the road you will find the enigmatic ruins of an ancient Minoan Palace and slightly further afield the mysterious Milatos caves are just waiting to be explored and down the hill from there are the sublimely secluded beaches of Milatos Village, if you venture further towards the mountains you can picnic at the breath-taking Samaria Gorge or soak up the mesmerising views on top of Lassithi Plateau. That’s just a small selection of what’s on offer, mere minutes away from Malia and there are literally hundreds of hidden gems like that dotted around this rich and varied region, a very select few are accessible by public transport or via pre-booked excursions, but for the main part, they are only reachable by driving. Public transport and excursions are both great options, but they do limit you, not only in where you go, but also in when you can go and how long you can stay there.
This is where Hermes Car, Bike and Quad Rentals come in. Imagine having the freedom to go wherever and whenever you like, without limitations, winding through the Cretan mountain sides, wind in your hair, the sun on your back, the world at your feet. Every single day of your holiday suddenly becomes an adventure, just waiting to happen.
