Offering free broadband WiFi access, a pool table, dart board, karaoke machine and British satellite TV on the big screen, The Saltire Lounge has pretty much everything you could possibly want in a holiday pub, all under one roof. If you’re worried about missing out on the football whilst you’re away, don’t be - The Saltire has you covered, they screen all the SPL matches in full HD and the atmosphere is guaranteed to be electric come kick-off time, the place is always packed out for the big games and the banter flows as freely as the ale, it really does feel like you’re back down the local again with your pals. If you’re lucky enough to be in Malia during an international tournament, we honestly can’t recommend the Saltire Lounge enough, it may not be the biggest venue on the strip, but during the European or the World Cup it’s almost certainly one of the liveliest and once you’ve experienced the unique atmosphere, you’re not going to want to watch a match anywhere else.

This is in no small part down to Dale and the fantastic staff, these guys really do set the place apart from the other bars in the resort, each of them are expertly trained, dedicated, enthusiastic and always on hand for a chat and some quality banter, they’ll make sure that you and your mates always have a smile on your faces and a drink in your hands.

Speaking of drinks, Saltire offers a huge selection of premium quality spirits and liqueurs at prices that are as reasonable as the measures are generous. You will be glad to hear that all your favourite lagers and ciders are available on tap - alongside cans of local favourites, each is served frosty-cold at all-day-session friendly prices. If unusual shots are your thing, then you’re in for a treat, you’ll find dozens of scrumptiously brain-smashing chasers on offer, to make sure your night as messy as you want it to be – If you fancy a shot of patriotism with your booze, Saltire boasts a crazy selection of exclusive and lethal Scottish themed shooters that you won’t find anywhere else on the island. Make sure you sample the inexplicably good Haggis Bomb (Irn Bru and Jagermeister) or their famous Bucky Bomb (Buckfast depth-charged into a glass of Irn Bru), they’re an acquired taste, but once you’re hooked, one is never enough.

It’s ideally located as a pre-club bar, and that might be your intention when you walk in, but once you’ve gotten to know the staff, sampled the outrageous, yet friendly atmosphere here, had a crack on the karaoke and knocked back a few dozen Skittle-Bombs, there’s every chance you’ll still be there when the sun comes up.

So, what else is there to say? The drinks are on point, the location is ideal, the staff are the nuts, it doesn’t really get any better. The Saltire Lounge is honestly an all-around gem of a pub, completely unique, cosily sized and a whole lot of heart. They do almost everything here and they do it all extremely well, with care and attention and a smile on their face. Wherever you are from, make sure you seek it out early on in your Malia holiday.
